==History==

The ''Citizenship and Naturalisation Act'' took effect on 1 July 1955, shortly after Ibagli's independence. Citizenship was immediately granted to most British subjects connected with Ibagli.

==Birth in Ibagli==

In general, any person born in Ibagli since 15 June 1955 is a citizen of Ibagli. British and Commonwealth subjects or citizens resident in Ibagli on 15 June 1955 are also citizens of Ibagli.

==Citizenship by descent==

Any person born outside of Ibagli to a parent who is an Ibaglian citizen is automatically an Ibaglian citizen. If the parent is a citizen by descent, then Ibaglian citizenship will be lost on the 25th birthday unless the person applies to retain citizenship.

==Naturalisation==

Any person who is a permanent resident in Ibagli may apply for citizenship after four years.

The requirements for citizenship are that the person:

* is aged 18 years or over
* is a permanent resident
* has lived in Ibagli for four out of the five years preceding the application for citizenship, and for the full year preceding the application
* can pass a test on the history and government of Ibagli. As the test is only given in English, it is a ''de facto'' requirement that the applicant be at least somewhat proficient in the English language

For children under the age of 18, the applicant need only be a permanent resident and the child of a citizen or person applying for citizenship.
