Governor-General Sir Steven Spell has arrived on a surprise visit to Afghanistan.

Upon arrival, Spell met with President Hamid Karzai and presented him with the insignia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Ibaglian Order. He is expected to meet with Ibaglian troops and aid workers later in the day.
