The Royal Ibaglian Regiment (RIR) is the main regular infantry formation of the Ibaglian Army. The regiment currently comprises of four separate batallions:
- 1st Battallion (1 RIR) - Light infantry
- 2nd Battallion (2 RIR) - Light infantry, inludes a parachute company.
- 3rd Battallion (Mechanised) (3 RIR [Mech]) - Mechanised infantry
- 4th Battallion (Commando) (4 RIR [CDO]) - Commando
History
The regiment was founded as the Ibaglian Regiment in 1947 as a result of the amalgamation of the Ibaglian Light Infantry and the Ibaglian Volunteer Rifle Corps. It was granted Royal patronage in 1955, upon the independence of Ibagli.
In 2005, the regiment was given the honour of mounting the Queen's Guard at Buckingham Palace in London.
Traditions
The current colonel-in-chief of the regiment is Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of Ibagli. The colonel of the regiment is Field Marshal Sir Erik Barnes.
The regimental quick march of the Royal Ibaglian Regiment is Milanollo, the slow march is Non piu andrai farfallone amoroso from Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro.
The regiment is allied with the Coldstream Guards.
