The ANZAC Day Bombing was a terrorist attack that occured in Haphonia on 25 April 2006. In total, 14 people died as a result of the blast and 39 were seriously injured in the blast. Governor-General Dame Annette Farquhar was critically injured in the attack, while Speaker of the House of Commons Sir Steven Hardeman died several days later as a result of his injuries.
The bombing was carried out by a pair of operatives of the Ibagli Liberation Front, who affixed an explosive device to a vehicle in the Governor-General's motorcade.
On April 29, 2006 began Operation Swordfish in an attempt to disband the ILF.
