On 22 July 2006, six police officers were killed, and three were injured in an explosion in Exeter, Ibagli.

It is believed that the perpetrator, Trent Rand, loaded his vehicle with explosives, robbed a bank in Haphonia, and led the police on a chase. After a significant length of travel, down the M1 motorway, Rand stopped his vehicle under an overpass just outside of downtown Exeter.

Officers ordered Rand to exit the vehicle and lay down on the ground next to his vehicle, which he did without protest. When the officers drew forward to make their arrest, Rand detonated the explosives in the vehicle. The explosion killed six of the officers, and injured three. Rand was severely injured, and died in transit to hospital.

On 24 July 2006, Prime Minister Roger Pollack announced that the slain officers' bodies would lie in state in the Parliament buildings in Haphonia.
