Field Marshal The Right Honourable Sir William Barriter, OIM, GCRI, DSO, OBE was the Governor-General of Ibagli from 1992 to 2005.
He was born in 1924 in London to Bernard and Josephine Barriter. The family moved to Ibagli in 1935, where William went to school at Exeter and Thistledowne. He joined the army in 1942, and saw action in the Pacific War. In 1979, he was appointed Chief of the General Staff and rose to the rank of General. In 1989 he was appointed Chief of the Defence Staff and was made a Field Marshal.
In 1949, he married Jeanne Boulanger, a French-Canadian. They had 4 children.
In 1992, William was selected to be the 6th Governor-General of Ibagli. He held this office until his death in 2005.
