News:20070816 Gibbs Funeral
The funeral of Private Mark Gibbs has been held at the Army Chapel at Haphonia Barracks. The 19-year old soldier from the Royal Ibaglian Regiment was killed in Afghanistan last week. Among those present at the funeral were the following:
- Sir Steven Spell, Governor General
- Sir John Goodwin, Prime Minister
- Field Marshal Sir Erik Barnes, Minister of Finance and Colonel of the Royal Ibaglian Regiment
- Robert Clarke, Minister of Defence
- Field Marshal Sir Peter Chaucer, Chief of the Defence Staff
- General Edward Manning, Chief of the Army
Following the funeral, a private burial service was held. Gibbs is the fourth Ibaglian to die in the conflict.
