Richard LeVeque
The Right Honourable Sir Richard William LeVeque, GCRI, KC (born 18 May 1939) is an Ibaglian politician. He was born to Henry and Harriet LeVeque on 18 May 1939 at Middlesex Hospital in London. He moved with his family to Ibagli in 1946. He attended Exeter and Cambridge, where he studied law. He set up a private practice in Exeter. He ran for the Exeter council in 1981 as a member of the Liberal Party. He was elected mayor in 1986 when the Liberal Party won a majority on the council. He was re-elected as mayor in 1991. After Conservative victories in 1996 and 2001, he was elected mayor once again by the new Liberal council in 2006, and was re-elected in 2011. He was elected to the House of Commons from the district of Exeter Central in the 2011 General Election, and was appointed Minister of Finance in the government of Roger Pollack. He was appointed to the Privy Council after the Liberal victory in the 2014 General Election. He was re-elected to Parliament in 2017, but retired from the cabinet at that time and did not stand for re-election in 2020.
