The body of Private Mark Gibbs has been returned to Ibagli. The 19-year old from the 2nd Battalion Royal Ibaglian Regiment was killed in Afghanistan during fighting with the Taliban near Kandahar. Present at the ceremony at RIAF Haphonia were Sir Steven Spell, the Governor-General; Sir John Goodwin, the Prime Minister; Field Marshal Sir Erik Barnes, the Minister of Finance and Colonel of the Regiment; and Robert Clarke, the Minister of Defence.

A funeral will be held on Thursday at the Army Chapel in Haphonia.
