The Right Honourable Dame Annette Farquhar, OIM, GCMG, GCVO, GCRI, CIMM, DBE, ID, QC (1940–2007) was the Governor-General of Ibagli from March 2005 to July 2006.

Early Life

She was born to Elizabeth and Randall Caradine on June 7th, 1940 in Portsmouth, England. Randall was a Lieutenant Colonel in the British Army and had left for action in Norway and was killed in late May. Elizabeth remarried in May 1947 to Joseph Kenilworth, a construction worker. Soon after their marriage, they moved to Ibagli, where an economic boom was taking place after the war, to escape the postwar austerity in Britain. They soon settled in Exeter, and Joseph took up a career in politics, soon becoming an MLA in the Ibaglian Legislative Assembly.

Annette was educated at Thistledowne in Hampton, Ibagli and Oxford University in England, where she studied law. During this time, Ibagli gained its independence from the United Kingdom, and Joseph ran a successful bid for leader of the Conservative Party. In the 1959 election, the Conservative Party, led by Joseph Kenilworth, won the majority in the new Ibaglian House of Commons, and Joseph became the Prime Minister of Ibagli, a post he would hold until 1972. Upon returning to Ibagli, Annette was admitted to the bar of Ibagli, and practiced maritime law in Ibagli and several British territories in the South Pacific. She was appointed a Queen's Counsel in 1970.

In 1964, Annette announced her engagement to Ian Farquhar, a Liberal MP. Despite the controversy, she pressed on with the engagement, marrying on August 4th. Ian and Annette have three children.

Judge

In 1971, she was appointed Chief Magistrate of Haphonia by Prime Minister Kenilworth, a move which was criticized by the opposition and which many see as contributing to the Conservative Party's loss of the 1972 election. She held this position until 1980, when she was appointed to the Crown Court. She was appointed to the position of Chief Justice in 1993, a position that she held until 2005, when she was appointed Governor-General of Ibagli.

Governor-General

Farquhar was generally well-received as Governor-General, with many finding her to be warmer and more open than her predecessor, who was famous for his distance from the people. She was seriously injured in the ANZAC Day Bombing, and was in a coma for nearly a month. Her commission was revoked on 6 July 2006 due to her involvement in the overthrow of the government that year.

Travel

In April 2005, Farquhar undertook a visit to Italy and the Holy See to attend the funeral of Pope John Paul II, and to the United Kingdom for the wedding of HRH the Prince of Wales and HRH the Duchess of Cornwall.
